We eat at the Jolly Roger every time we go to the Outer Banks. Dinner can be on the pricey side, but it is always good. Seafood is always good in the Outer Banks, and you really can't go wrong. I really like their breakfast, which is much cheaper and has big portions. It is a smallish restaurant with thousands of Christmas ornaments dangling from the ceiling. On one wall they had painted where the water level was from Hurricane Isabel. It is usually busy, especially for dinner, but our cottage was very close and we just walked there. Check out the menus on their website!

My husband took me to the Tick Tock Tavern after a day at Edgewater Park. It looks like an old greasy spoon, but the portions were huge and the prices were fair. There are pictures of old sports heroes and grandmother-type waitresses. I got a corned beef and swiss sandwich on rye with a side of fries. That sandwich was as big as a football! I really enjoyed my meal, and will return again someday.

This restaurant seems to be a well known secret among the locals. When we arrived, there was no parking in the smallish parking lot, and the place was completely packed. Inside, a night tight dining room with an attached bar. When we arrived, our table was not ready, so the hostess bought a round of drinks for us! meals are very reasonable, and run in the seafood and steaks realm. i ended up trying the shrimp victoria, and it was fab. just some quick hints: by all means, get an appetizer. they are not to be missed. if your meal does not come with potatoes, make sure you order them on the side. do not substitute anything, as it's all good.

I think this is my favorite chinese restaurant ever. It fits right in with the Oberlin too-hip-for-you vibe, but the food is excellent and only slightly more than our fast food Chinese counterpart at home. The menu is extensive, the portions are large, and the quality is really, really good. For example, when I get wonton soup at the place at home, I get yellow, funny tasting broth with one big noodle. When I get wonton soup here, I get GOOD broth, lots of noodles, veggies, and even shrimp. When you get tea, they ask if you want green tea or japanese tea or whatever kind of tea, and it is the leaf kind, not the teabag kind. My only dislike of this restaurant is that it is very small and it gets crowded fast. So go early, and when college is not in session, watch out for weird hours. Otherwise, it's awesome.

Lorenzo's is just off the main street in Oberlin, near the college. We had a deluxe pizza and a thing called a ciabatta loaf, which was ciabatta bread, tomatoes and cheese...very good. Our pizza was very good also. I wish I could say the same about the service. Our waitress was quick but not friendly, and the lady who rang up our bill was downright rude. That said, the food was quite good and the atmosphere is nice.

Dojo is a restaurant in Greenwhich Village in New York City. It is commonly referred to as "Dojo West" or simply "Dojo". This restaurant is a great place that is something very fresh and new. It is usually a hangout for NYU students and they can be loud at times which is annoying. The menu is unlike any kind I've ever seen. They have a very good vegetarian selection, however there are a lot of dished with meat in them as well. A great place with very good prices, especially by comparison. A good place with a very good taste, definitely a place you will want to go back to.

This place used to be in Old Town San Diego but got run out due to some shady dealing by ex-gov Davis. Thankfully they moved to La Mesa! The best chips and salsa in San Diego county. The grilled chicken, avocado and pepita salad was delicious -- the cilantro lime dressing was amazing.

I went to this place a while ago...it is a big place with live entertainment most of the time. They have a really interesting menu with a lot of seafood and cajun style dishes, but the thing I remember most is dessert! We got the "Chocolate Sack" which was a big hunk of chocolate shaped like a paper bag and filled with raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and whipped cream. The thing was probably 8 inches tall. Yum, yum! Enough to share.

The Pumphouse is a cool place that is located in an old warehouse that used to make--you guessed it--pumps. It is owned by a ministry group now that works to help people learn new job skills. This is probably the best restaurant in Ashland as far as atmosphere and food. Food is really, really good, the location is interesting and quiet, and the portions are large. I have a friend who liked to go to lunch here as well, because the specials were always changing and it was always good. I have had the chicken parmagiana and the crab cakes. My husband has had steak and salmon, and they were all excellent. A little pricey, but good for a special occasion dinner or a nice lunch.

This restaurant has the most random menu, thanks to one of the owners being from Thailand. Most of the menu is your traditional greasy spoon comfort food, but there is a whole page of the menu devoted to Thai cuisine. I love the lemon chicken soup, which is different every time Ladda makes it. The curry is excellent also. I have a vegetarian friend who loves their Pad Thai. I heard a rumor that the owners were selling out and moving away, so visit this one before it disappears!

We were kind of wary of this place for a long time because we never saw any cars in the parking lot. We decided to go a few weeks ago and it is AWESOME!!! They have a full service sushi/sashimi bar, and about six hibachi grills in the back room. Our hibachi cook said, "Be nice to me, it's my first day..." For his first day, this cook was incredible. He looked like a ninja flipping his knives around. I had calamari and chicken, and my husband had steak and chicken with a california roll. Everything was excellent, if a bit pricey for the area ($12-$15 per person, no appetizers) I think it was worth it just for the show.
